IMT's Piranhas Devour the Competition in Championship Victory

santa barbara, ca, june 13, 2003

Proving that Cinderella stories do come true, IMT's last seeded Piranhas won the Men's Roller Hockey League Championship last night by beating the #2 seed, 5-4.

Although the Piranhas entered the playoffs as an underdog, finishing the season 4-3-3, defeating the #1 seeded team in the opening round lifted their confidence high. The team's dream of winning the championship trophy was beginning to materialize.

However, the final game started out slowly for the Piranhas, falling behind 1-0 in the first period, against the team that won last year's tournament.

Nevertheless, the Piranhas turned it around in the second period, showcasing their impressive offensive fire power to score 3 unanswered goals, and dominating with finesse and team work. The Piranhas never looked back, once taking the lead, on their way to winning their first championship.
