Santa Barbara, CA, 22 November 2004 – Innovative
Micro Technology (IMT) announced that MEMtronics Corporation has
chosen IMT to manufacture packaged high-frequency RF switches based
on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology for wireless
applications. Implementing MEMtronics’ proprietary packaging
technique using surface micromachining, IMT and MEMtronics are developing
microencapsulated switches with unprecedented performance, reliability,
and environmental robustness. Target systems include military and
commercial radar, communications, and imaging systems in the microwave
and millimeter-wave frequency ranges.
According to David Forehand, MEMtronics’ VP
of Technology Development and inventor of the packaging technology,
