RedShift Systems Announces Selection of IMT as Preferred
Foundry Partner for Next Generation Thermal Imaging Device
Burlington, MA - 19 September 2007 - RedShift Systems,
a Burlington, MA based provider of next generation thermal imaging
solutions, has selected Innovative Micro Technology (IMT), the world's
leading Micro-ElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) foundry, as its preferred
partner to produce the RedShift Thermal Light Valve (TLV).
The TLV is a solid state, passive optical component that shifts
long-wavelength thermal infrared radiation to visible light, thereby
allowing standard CMOS and CCD digital cameras to "see heat."
The TLV enables a new generation of affordable infrared imaging
devices that will rapidly expand the market for thermal imaging.
"Manufactured with just a handful of process
steps, our Thermal Light Valve is inherently lower cost than the
more established microbolometer products," said Matthias Wagner,
CEO of RedShift Systems. "With IMT's leading MEMS capabilities
we are now positioned to expand low-cost thermal imaging into mass-markets
that have been unable to afford current solutions."
"RedShift has an exciting and disruptive technology
poised to change an entire industry. We are excited to help make
it a reality and to bring to bear IMT's considerable resources in
building reliable, low-cost MEMS-based products," said John
Foster, Chairman and CEO of IMT. "We look forward to creating
a sea change in the thermal imaging industry."
About Innovative Micro Technology
IMT was formed in 2000, specifically to produce MEMS (micro-mechanical
systems) devices. IMT's overriding goal is to partner with companies
to develop products based on MEMS technology. Its 130,000 square
foot facility contains a 30,000 square foot clean room/fab, the
largest and best-equipped independent MEMS fab in the world. The
company was built for high-volume manufacturing, and provides full
foundry services from design through production. www.imtmems.com.
About RedShift Systems, Inc.
RedShift Systems is enabling the mass-market application of thermal
imaging cameras for thermography, firefighting, security and surveillance,
automotive, and other industrial markets where high cost has historically
limited deployment. Its core innovation, the Thermal Light Valve
(TLV), is at the forefront of a new wave of thermal imaging modules
and imagers based on optical readout technology. The TLV, when combined
with commercial off-the-shelf CMOS or CCD imagers, delivers high
quality imagery at a fraction of the cost of current solutions.
